Tips for Taking Overnight Buses in Peru

Prior to traveling, the thought of taking overnight buses was often met with fear & anxiety. Everyone’s heard the horror stories of buses falling off cliffs, nasty things happening with not so awesome drivers and the like. After comparing the cost of overnight buses to flying however, penny pinching won out in the end and Mac & I have been overnight bus aficionados ever since! Our first overnight bus was in Colombia from Bogota to […]

Bolivia Overview & Where to Stay

When Mac & I first started planning our trip, Bolivia wasn’t even on our radar. We had assumed we’d go right from Peru into Chile and skip the country completely. Well, obviously we changed our minds and I’m SO happy we did as Bolivia was an AWESOME country! We started out by visiting the famous Lake Titicaca where we spent a few blissful days relaxing & hiking on Isla del Sol. Afterwards, it was back […]

Ecuador Overview & Where to Stay

Our time in Ecuador was short, but we definitely did our best to make the most of it! We were in the country for a total of 13 days and in that time we did a jungle tour with friends from home, a hiking trek to the top of Baños, a biking waterfall tour and then we spent a few days relaxing on the coast before life stepped in and changed up our plans.

We spent […]

The Poor Man’s Galapagos {Isla de la Plata}

Isla de la Plata, Ecuador
Every year thousands of tourists & locals alike flock to the arpeggio of islands of the coast of Ecuador: the Galapagos Islands. The islands boast insane amounts of wildlife, ranging from humongous giant tortoises, to sea lions, to the giggle-inducing blue-footed boobies and more.

Most people we’ve met who have visited the Galapagos didn’t regret a single penny they spent and would go again in a heart beat. Unfortunately for us, as […]

Chasing Waterfalls

Baños, Ecuador
I mentioned in my first post about Baños how it’s a city known for its natural beauty and numerous adventure opportunities. We combined the two traits on our second day in Baños by hiring bikes and going on a self-guided waterfall tour. We went through Imagine Ecuador again and they provided us with a map, repair kit and awesome bikes! To the end of waterfall route is 21km total, and is mostly downhill (!!!).

The […]
